3C Community Church revives ancient Christmas tradition

3C Community Church has revived the ancient tradition of ‘Midnight Mass’ – because it suits modern lifestyles.

The Cam-based church will be holding its own late-night gathering at 11pm on 24 December – called Midnight Carols on Christmas Eve – to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas just as the big day dawns.

Rev Noel Fellowes said: “People like to come to church over the Christmas period, but we find that many are unable to join us on Christmas Day morning, either because they have to work – an increasing trend – or because of family commitments.

“A late-night Christmas Eve service including Communion provides the opportunity to celebrate the birth of Jesus at a more convenient time. We welcome anyone to come along, whether or not they are regular churchgoers.”

3C’s other services this Christmas are:

  • Carols by Candlelight: 6pm on Sunday, 20th December –a traditional atmospheric Christmas service (Please note: there is no Sunday morning service on this day)
  • Christmas Morning Service: 10.15 – 11.15am, 25th December – For all the family.
